Campus Ministry coordinates the Spiritual Life of the Bishop Gorman Community. It is the mission of Campus Ministry to help the community to explore and discover Jesus Christ's abiding love and presence in our lives.
There are activities which Campus Ministry coordinates to help Bishop Gorman “teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ” and "create a community where service is valued and celebrated" (BGHS Mission Statement). Campus Ministry is responsible for the prayer life of the school, including monthly Masses, regular Penance Services, daily prayer and special prayer events. In addition, Campus Ministry sponsors retreats and Days of Reflection. Campus Ministry is also responsible for the implementation of Bishop Gorman’s Christian Service requirements.
Please note that neither the Department of Theology and Campus Ministry nor Bishop Gorman Catholic High School provide sacramental preparation. All sacramental preparation programs are conducted through our local parishes. For a list of parishes in the diocese, please see this link.
All of the Campus Ministry activities involve direct student leadership and active participation. Any student wishing to participate or help with the planning of Campus Ministry activities is encouraged to visit us in our office located inside the Our Lady of Lourdes Alumni Chapel.
Faculty and Staff also are involved in the programs of Campus Ministry. They serve as chaperones, speakers, mentors and leaders in the areas of liturgy, retreats and service.
Lord, As You did during Your ministry on Earth, please help us to accept one another, for all are people meant to grow in faith as the disciples You want us to be. Amen.
Kirstin Angosta '23 spent spring break putting together a total 80 sunshine and hygiene kits for the homeless youths and wrote 40 inspirational notes. These kits were donated by her family to the Nevada Partnerships for Homeless Youths (NPHY). Way to go, Kirstin!
