Selecting the best educational environment for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will make as a parent. We invite you to review the Admissions Process below for freshmen.

Incoming 9th-grade application is no longer available for the 2023-2024 school year as we are at capacity and our wait pool has been established.

Incoming Freshmen

  • Step 1: Admission Criteria

    Applicant Requirements:
    1. A minimum 2.0 grade point average in middle school with C or better in core classes
    2. A passing score on the High School Placement Test
    3. A positive disciplinary record
    4. A positive attendance record
    All students are admitted on a probationary basis.
  • Step 2: Submit Online Application

    A.     Create a BGHS account (or log into your current account)
    B.     Complete the ONLINE APPLICATION (available after Wednesday, August 23, 2023) before paying the $50 application fee.
    C.     The entire process should take no longer than 20 minutes.
    D.    After the application has been submitted, allow 1-2 business days for it to be processed. Once complete, you will be able to log in to your BGHS account and complete steps E & F below.
    E.     Upload any required documents.
    F.     Register for High School Placement Test.
  • Step 3: Submit Required Documents

    In your BGHS account, under the Admissions Progress tab, there is an admissions checklist. It is the responsibility of the applicant to submit the required materials to the admissions checklist.
     
    BIRTH CERTIFICATE
    After your application has been processed and an admissions checklist has been added to your account, you can upload this document.

    GRADES
    Copy of 6th and 7th Grade Report Cards
    If multiple documents please scan and save them as one document, then upload.
     
    Copy of 8th Grade In-Progress Grades
    After the first trimester/quarter, upload your most recent 8th grade in-progress grades. If multiple documents please scan and save them as one document, then upload.

    RECOMMENDATION FORMS
    After October 25, BGHS-provided recommendation forms will be released within the admissions checklist. You will need to input the name and email address of the teachers/counselor who needs to complete the form.  Once the confidential form is completed by the teachers/counselor, it is automatically returned to the Admissions Office and you will receive a notification.  We require the completion of two BGHS-provided recommendation forms: 
      1. Counselor / Homeroom Teacher Recommendation Form
      2. Math Teacher Recommendation Form
    If applying to the Learning Center, an additional recommendation form will be required within the admissions checklist for completion.

    Partner School Applicants must have all these steps completed by November 15, 2023 (and registered to take the HSPT on 12/2/23), to be considered for an early admissions decisionFor a list of our partner schools click here.

    Non-Partner School Applicants must have all these steps completed by January 12, 2024, to be considered part of the first pool of applicants.
     
  • Step 4: Visit BGHS

    CAMPUS TOURS
    We love welcoming prospective families.  Come visit…let us show you around!   In-person campus tours are a great way for families to learn more about Bishop Gorman High School and see our beautiful campus.  Our school’s environment and energy are best displayed during school hours where you can see our students focused and engaged learning in our classrooms.  Tours typically last 90 minutes.  To join us for a tour, complete an inquiry form and allow 1-2 business days to process your form.  After, you can log in to your BGHS online account and register for a future tour date.  Space is limited to allow a personal experience for our families.
     
    PREVIEW DAY (Formerly known as Shadow Day)
    Preview Day will provide prospective students with the opportunity to meet faculty, staff, current students, as well as learn about the academic and extracurricular offerings at Bishop Gorman High School. 

    After an application has been submitted, you will be able to register for a Preview Day in your admissions checklist.

    During your student's Preview Day a campus tour for parents/guardians will be offered from 8:45-10:15 a.m.  It is not necessary to sign up. 

    Prospective students that attend one of our Partner Schools, do not need to register for Preview Day.  A dedicated day has been reserved just for your school.  Be on the lookout for more communication regarding your school’s Preview Day.

  • Step 5: Take Our High School Placement Test

    The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is required of all incoming 9th graders for admission to Bishop Gorman High School.  We will hold testing on the following dates here at Bishop Gorman High School.
    • Saturday, December 2, 2023  (Partner schools only)
    • Saturday, January 6, 2024
      • Saturday, January 20, 2024 - Applications received after the January test will be notified if and when an additional test date is available.  These applicants will be considered part of the second pool.
      Check-in begins at 8 am and testing will be complete around 12 pm. Applicants that test on one of the aforementioned dates are considered part of our first pool of applicants.

      The HSPT is administered by Scholastic Testing Services. There are 5 sections: VerbalQuantitativeReadingMath, and Language. In addition, there will be an Essay section. Testers should expect the testing to last 3-4 hours.

    • Step 6: Submit Tuition Assistance Application

      We offer need-based tuition assistance.  Tuition Assistance applications for the 2023-2024 school year will be available on November 1, 2022.  Applications received by February 10, 2023, will receive award notification prior to registration week (in March).  Families can apply for Tuition Assistance at any point during the year, but only those who can get their applications completed by February will be notified prior to registration week.
    • Step 7: Decision Notification

      Decision letters are sent to applicants with completed admissions files that include grades for 6th, 7th, and 8th, recommendation forms, and High School Placement Test scores.
       
      Partner school applicants with completed admissions files will receive an early admissions decision by Friday, December 15, 2023.
      Non-partner school applicants with completed admissions files will receive an admissions decision by mid-February. 

    The Learning Center

    Bishop Gorman’s Learning Center is a service that is available to students formally diagnosed with a learning difference.
