Selecting the best educational environment for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will make as a parent. We invite you to review the Admissions Process below for freshmen, transfer and international applicants.

Incoming Freshmen

List of 7 items.

  • Step 1: Admission Criteria

    Applicant Requirements:
    1. A minimum 2.0 grade point average in middle school with C or better in core classes
    2. A stanine level of 4 or above on the High School Placement Test or another national exam
    3. A positive disciplinary record
    4. A positive attendance record
    All students are admitted on a probationary basis.
  • Step 2: Submit Online Application

    A.     Create an account (or log into your current account)
    B.     Complete the ONLINE APPLICATION before paying the $50 application fee.
    C.     The entire process should take no longer than 20 minutes.
    D.     Upload any required documents.
    E.     Register for High School Placement Test.
  • Step 3: Upload Required Documents

    In your BGHS account, under the Admissions Progress tab, you will need to upload required documents.  Please see what is required:

    Partner Schools
    Bishop Gorman will request applicant transcripts directly from our partner schools.  For a list of our partner schools click here.
    Please be sure to upload a copy of your birth certificate in your BGHS account checklist.

    Non-Partner Schools
    It is the responsibility of the prospective student to upload the required documents, such as transcripts and a copy of your birth certificate in your BGHS account checklist. 

    School Transcript –1st Submission: Upload a copy of your middle school transcript.  Must include grades 6th, 7th and any posted grades for 8th.

    School Transcript – 2nd Submission: If your middle school transcript has been updated since your last upload, you will want to complete a 2nd submission.  This must show posted grades for 8th
  • Step 4: Visit BGHS

    There is nothing we enjoy more than having prospective students visit our campus for a Shadow Day and Tour.  Due to the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff, our campus is currently closed to outside visitors. 
    We will be conducting virtual campus tours to prospective families via Zoom.  Our traditional Shadow Day has been replaced with Zoomin’ with BG where applicants can participate in a 30-minute Zoom meeting learning more about Bishop Gorman and connecting with current students.  Reserve your spot today by signing up in your account checklist. We look forward to meeting you virtually!
  • Step 5: Take Our High School Placement Test

    The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is required of all incoming 9th graders for admission to Bishop Gorman High School. 
     
    The HSPT will be administered at these respective schools on the following dates:
      • Friday, November 6, 2020 - Diocese of Las Vegas Catholic Schools
      • TBD – Alexander Dawson
    If one of these dates applies to you, you will not need to sign up through your account checklist.
     
    The HSPT will be administered at Bishop Gorman’s campus on the following dates:
      • Saturday, November 7, 2020 (Challenger, Cornerstone Christian, Henderson International, Las Vegas Day School, Southern Highlands Preparatory)
      • Saturday, December 5, 2020
      • Saturday, January 9, 2021
    You will register for the date you would like to attend through your account checklist.

    The HSPT is administered by Scholastic Testing Services. There are 5 sections: Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Math and Language. Dress is casual, calculators are not allowed and pencils and scratch paper will be provided. 

    For incoming 9th grade applicants that live outside of the Las Vegas area, please contact our Admissions Office at 702-476-4060 regarding High School Placement Test arrangements.

  • Step 6: Submit Tuition Assistance Application

    We offer need-based tuition assistance. Tuition Assistance applications received by February 2021, will receive award notification prior to registration week (in March).
  • Step 7: Decision Notification

    Decision letters for the FIRST POOL of applicants will be mailed at the end of February. Registration packets will be mailed following, with registration taking place in March.

    SECOND POOL applicants will be notified once a decision has been made if there is space available.

Transfer Students

  • Step 1: Admission Criteria

    Applicants who meet the following admission requirements will be placed in our wait-pool or offered acceptance based on space availability:
    Applicant Requirements (transfer freshman, sophomore or junior applicants):
    1. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in core classes (English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language and {if coming from a Catholic school, Theology) with a C or better in all classes.
    2. A positive disciplinary record
    3. A positive attendance record
    Applicants that are credit deficient will not be considered for admission. Any applicant that has been expelled or is in the process of being expelled from their present school will not be considered for admission. All applicants are reviewed by the Admissions Committee. They will be evaluated based on a review of the applicant's records and available space.  Any applicant admitted enters on a probationary basis. Seniors will only be accepted if there are extenuating circumstances and each case will be evaluated individually.
  • Step 2: Submit The Online Application

    C.     The entire process should take no longer than 20 minutes.

  • Step 3: Upload Required Documents

    In your BGHS account, under the Admissions Progress tab, you will need to upload the required documents such as, a copy of your most recent transcript and birth certificate.  Send recommendation forms to your current Dean/Counselor from checklist.
  • Step 4: Visit BGHS

    There is nothing we enjoy more than having prospective students visit our campus for a Shadow Day and Tour.  Due to the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff, our campus is currently closed to outside visitors.  We look forward to connecting with you virtually.  Please continue to check back for our virtual opportunities.
  • Step 5: Submit Tuition Assistance Application

  • Step 6: Decision Notification

    Once requested records are received and a decision has been made, you will be notified via mail and email.  All transfer student acceptance is based on space availability.  You must submit your new student fee to reserve your space.  Acceptance does not guarantee your spot.

International Students

Bishop Gorman High School accepts students from other countries; however, because an ESL program is not offered, only applicants who have studied at a US institution for at least one year are considered. Students must be proficient in English. Bishop Gorman does not offer boarding services - an international student must live with a legal guardian while attending the school. International students will not be considered for senior year admission.

The Learning Center

Bishop Gorman’s Learning Center is a service that is available to students formally diagnosed with a learning difference.
