Art Club

The Art Club meets on Monday after school in room #25.  Great talent is not required to belong to the art club just a desire to work as a sponsor of the arts. We work to improve awareness of the arts by assisting in community projects that envolve the arts. The club visits art galleries and sponsors visits from a variety of art academies and schools. We design our annual spirit shirt, which is always a popular shirt.

Band

Varsity Band is a performance oriented class.  Each student works on the development of general music skills and specific technical aspects of their instrument.  This class, along with after school rehearsals (as necessary), help prepare each student and class as a whole for concerts and other performances.  Individual opportunities, as well as small ensemble experiences may also be available.

Le Cercle Francais

The aim of Le Cercle Français shall be to represent the French language at Bishop Gorman High School and to encourage the dissemination, both in the local feeder schools and in the general school community, of knowledge concerning all aspects of the culture and civilization of France and the French-speaking world.

Mock Trial

The State Bar of Nevada coordinates the High School Mock Trial Competition. Teams of six to eight students take on the roles of lawyer and witnesses in a mock trial. Local attorneys and teachers coach the teams for the competition, held at district, state, and national levels.  Last year, the Bishop Gorman team took the State Championship trophy and went to the Nationals in Charlotte, North Carolina. Two of our members took individual National titles.

Science Club

The BGHS Science Club's main goal is to integrate science into the lives of its members. The club goes to elementary schools each month to perform science demonstrations in the areas of biology, physics, chemistry, and anatomy. Members also judge science fair projects at Our Lady of LV, St. Viator, and the Las Vegas Day School. The Science Club is also working with the Service Club in initiating a recycling program on campus. With over 100 members strong, the club is fun for any student on campus who would like to get involved.

Service Club

The Community Service Club is an organization that provides opportunities for Bishop Gorman High School students to serve their community, make a difference in people's lives and develop valuable friendships. Events are planned on a monthly basis. Participation in the service club is a great way to earn service hours while participating in a variety of interesting projects!

Speech and Debate

The Speech and Debate Club is an academic club that competes in several tournaments throughout the year locally and nationally. Speech and Debate, also known as Forensics, benefits students with skill in public speaking, research skills, critical thinking, and proper debate and legislative procedures and protocol.

STATUS (Students Taking Action Toward Unlawful Substances)

STATUS is the new name for SADD. STATUS, Students Taking Action to Terminate Unlawful Substances, is aimed at providing the students with a voice to make other students aware of the problems caused by alcohol use. STATUS offers a clear "No Use" message regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs. The main focus of STATUS will be on education, prevention, and awareness activities.

Varsity Quiz

Varsity Quiz is one of three academic clubs that compete interscholastically.  It allows students to participate in a Jeopardy style game in a variety of topics with academically challenging questions.  Members of Varsity Quiz compete in matches with students from other schools.  Meetings are usually held one to two times per week during the season.  Members include students from every grade level and different academic interests.  For more information visit their website here
