MASSES and retreats

LITURGIES           RETREATS

LITURGY

The Eucharist is the primary and highest form of prayer in the Catholic Church.  Recognizing the value of Breaking open the Scriptures in the Liturgy of the Word, and the nourishment found in the Liturgy of the Eucharist, Bishop Gorman is committed to providing meaningful celebrations of the Mass throughout the year. We have an optional weekday Mass celebrated in the Conference Room of the Library at the following times:
Tuesday      7:15 a.m.
Wednesday 7:15 a.m.
Thursday     2:20 p.m.
Friday          7:15 a.m.

Please remember that on these dates we are on a "Mass Schedule" however, dismissal time is still 2:00 p.m.  All students must be in their Mass day attire (oxford shirt and vest) on these days. 

School Wide Liturgies are celebrated on the following dates:

October 16, Bishop Joseph Pepe, celebrant. 

November 1 All Saints

November 20  Thanksgiving

December 19

January 28 Catholic School’s Week

February 6 Ash Wednesday

March 18 Holy Week

April 16

Additional Masses celebrated by the Bishop Gorman Community include:

  November 2 Alumni & Friends Mass

  October 22 Junior Ring Mass

  Grandparents Mass

  May 22 Baccalaureate Mass at the Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer


   

RETREATS

In keeping with its commitment to help enhance the spiritual life of the Gorman community, Bishop Gorman will offer the following retreats during the 2006-2007 school year.

Freshman Class Retreat:     

            The Freshman class retreat focuses on the question: Who am I?


Sophomore Class Retreat:   

            The Sophomore class retreat focuses on the question: Who is God?

Junior Class Retreat             

             The Junior class retreat focuses on the question: Who am I becoming?

Senior Class Retreat              

              The Senior class retreat focuses on the question: Who is/with me on the

              journey?    

 

In addition to these class retreats there are other, smaller and more intimate and intense retreat opportunities available throughout the year.

Advent Retreat                      

              The Advent Retreat provides for a time to get away and focus on

              anticipation, waiting, longing.

 

Lenten Retreat                     

              The Lenten Retreat is a time where we explore what it means to journey

              through Lent. 

 

Freshmen and Sophomores can take part in QUEST.


QUEST  is an overnight retreat for 9th and 10th graders.  On QUEST you learn more about yourself, your relationships with family and friends, and your relationship with God.  It is lead by sophomores who have made a previous QUEST retreat.

November 8-9
March 10-11

Juniors and Seniors can take part in KAIROS.

KAIROS is a three day retreat for the 11th and 12th graders.  This retreat helps you to learn more about yourself, relationships with others, and your relationship with God. Students and adults discuss how living a Christian life can help guide their future and strengthen relationships with family, friends, and God. KAIROS is lead by seniors who have made a previous retreat.
