Shadow Program

Q: What is the Shadow Program?
A: "Shadowing" is a program designed to give your student a feel for Bishop Gorman life. Your student will attend classes and lunch with a Bishop Gorman student host.

Q: Must students know a Bishop Gorman student to participate?

A: If your student knows someone at Bishop Gorman, they are welcome to shadow him/her. Otherwise, your student will be paired with a Bishop Gorman student with similar interests (i.e. activities, sports). Sibling shadows are also permitted.

Q: Must students be accepted to Bishop Gorman before they participate in this program?
A: Acceptance is not required, however the program is reserved for 8th grade students or high school students interested in transferring from another school to Bishop Gorman.

Q:  What days are available as shadow days?

A:  For the 2007 - 2008 school year, shadow days will take place between Monday, September 24, 2007, and Monday, April 28, 2008.  Shadow days will not be scheduled on exam days, days spent reviewing for exams, Block Schedule days, and Activity Schedule days.

Q: How do I sign up for a shadow day?
A: Please contact the Administration Office at (702) 732-1945 ext. 4011 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and between 7:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on Friday to schedule a shadow. A parent or guardian is required to set up the shadow day.

PLEASE NOTE: Shadows MUST be arranged 3 school days in advance.

Shadow Day Release Form

Q: If my child attends one of Bishop Gorman’s feeder schools, do I need to make arrangements for a shadow day?

A: Most feeder schools have a pre-arranged shadow day that is listed on the Key Dates for the Admission Process page.  If your child’s school does not have an arranged shadow day, please follow the process outlined above to arrange for a shadow day.

IMPORTANT:
The Shadow Program is not to be used to visit friends for the day. The program is designed for students interested in making Bishop Gorman their possible high school home. Thank you for your cooperation in making this worthwhile program a success for everyone involved.
